One.com Hosting Review

One.com Hosting Review Featured

If you’re looking for a cheap way to build a website, you’ll most likely come across the provider One.com during your search. In one package, you can register domains and purchase storage space for websites and e-mails. The price is determined by the amount of space desired, though to be honest, One.com is extremely generous in this regard.

The One.com Website Builder is always included in every package. It allows non-technical users to create a website without any programming knowledge. We’ll see what the website builder has to offer in this review. One.com, unlike competitors such as Jimdo and Weebly, does not provide a free plan. Instead, there is a money-back guarantee of 15 days. Any plan’s standard duration is one year.

This in-depth review of One.com will put their claims to the test. We will investigate the following:

Reliability: Will your website be available 24/7 or there is chance of downtime in the middle of the night or on the weekend?

Performance: When hosted by One.com, how quickly will your website load?

Pricing: Do they offer competitive prices? If there are any discounts available for One.com?

Customer Support: Is One.com reliable when you need immediate assistance with your website?

Features: Do they provide everything you need to create a website?

This is a comprehensive analysis of One.com, which looks at the hosting service in a great deal of detail. If you don’t have the time to read our full review of One.com’s hosting services, here is a scorecard that summarises our findings and concludes with our recommendation.

About One.com

Jacob Jensen and Thomas Frederiksen, two Danish businessmen, established a web hosting company under the name b-one.net all the way back in 2002. Even though the internet has undergone significant development over the past more than two decades, b-one.net is still operational, albeit under the name one.com. Because one.com prioritises its customers in Europe rather than in other regions, those who live in other parts of the world may not be as familiar with the company’s name.

In spite of this, it’s not nearly as obscure as you might think it is. One.com is able to provide services to over 1.5 million customers in over 200 countries thanks to its sister brands that fall under the group.ONE umbrella.

Pros and Cons of One.com

Every web host has both advantages and disadvantages. In some cases, the benefits may outweigh the drawbacks, but in others, certain drawbacks may be a deal breaker.

Before making a final decision, you should weigh the benefits and drawbacks of using One.com.

Let’s begin with the pros.

Pros:

  • Easy to use: One.com provides straightforward website hosting services, with only a few different WordPress hosting, email hosting, and shared hosting plans available. It doesn’t muddle things up with server options or technical jargon. In addition, the company has an academy to assist beginners with design and search engine optimisation. (SEO). It focuses on making web hosting simple, and the straightforward control panel reflects this. It also makes it simple to subscribe to its services.
  • More than enough storage: One.com provides users with an abundance of storage space. Even the most basic plan includes 50 GB of SSD storage and 3 GB of email storage. While none of its plans offer unlimited storage, the Guru plan does offer up to 750 GB. This should be sufficient for the average web designer.
  • Easy to use website builder: While one.com’s Beginner plan does not include one-click WordPress installation, it does include a user-friendly Website Builder. It’s a one-of-a-kind CMS and WordPress alternative for beginners. One.com’s drag-and-drop builder, like other page builders, uses themes, templates, and customizable pages to help you build a website. However, because it is unique to one.com, you won’t find a plethora of instructions or FAQs online if you need assistance. Nonetheless, one.com previously competed with WordPress, so the company is confident in its Website Builder.
  • Impressive list of features: One.com provides some features that are competitive with other hosting solutions as well as some that are unique. With each hosting package, they include a one-of-a-kind Bix solution. The Bix solution offers real-time synchronization, music streaming, filesharing, and ever-impressive mobile access features. The fact that this comes standard with every package is impressive enough. However, Google AdWords is one of the more competitive features. If you spend $25 and get Google AdWords credits, one.com will give you another $75 in credits.
  • Excellent uptime: Many people want to know about uptime before deciding on a hosting company. Far too many hosting companies are guilty of failing to provide the best uptime. When a website goes down, especially an e-commerce website, it costs people money. When it costs people money like that, you’re going to have unhappy customers no matter what. It is far preferable to charge extra when bandwidth is exceeded than to shut down the site. One.com, on the other hand, will not shut down your site because they provide unlimited bandwidth. One.com does not publicise its uptime.
  • More than affordable: One.com is a fantastic value. In fact, I’ve never seen one this cheap before. That’s not to say they’re a cheap service; it’s just that they don’t charge very much. Their entry-level plan starts at $.25 per month. That is not a typo: one-quarter of a dollar. This $.25 per month plan is ideal for basic websites, blogs, and email hosting, as it includes 15GB of storage, a single database, a single domain, and SSL capabilities, which are essential for e-commerce sites. Even their most expensive package, the business package, starts at $6 per month. For that price, I can’t think of anyone else who provides more than 500GB of storage, eight CPU cores (for a shared hosting account), multiple databases, multiple domains, and SSL and SSH capabilities.

Cons of choosing One.com

  • Shared hosting only: One.com only provides shared hosting. That means you won’t be able to get dedicated servers, VPS servers, or cloud hosting. Many of these features are essential for anyone building an e-commerce site that needs to grow. If you’re building an e-commerce site and intend to expand, you should look elsewhere because you’ll be forced to switch hosting providers if the need arises. However, if you only intend to keep a small blog, this isn’t a problem.

One.com Performance

When selecting a web host, cost is frequently a primary consideration, but you should never put performance considerations on the back burner.

Because of this, we made the decision to conduct our own tests in order to conduct an in-depth analysis of One.com’s performance.

One.com Speed Test Results:

When looking for important performance metrics, one of the most important metrics to consider is speed. A faster website not only improves the user experience, but it also improves the search engine optimization of your website (SEO).

A one-second delay, for example, can result in a 15% decrease in customer satisfaction, a 6% decrease in conversions, and a 10% decrease in page views. All of these changes can occur in a single second.

Pingdom’s website speed testing tool was used to evaluate the performance of our tests. As a result of the circumstances, we obtained the following outcomes:

One.com Hosting Speed Test

As you can see, it loaded in a second.

It’s an amazing speed.

One.com Plans and Features

Shared Hosting: Remember that One.com only offers shared hosting, so make sure you thoroughly research all of the plan’s features before creating your hosting account to ensure you get everything you need.

Your upgrade options are fairly limited once you sign up.

One.com provides two shared hosting plans: Starter and Professional Plus.

  • Starter plan: According to One.com, their Starter plan is ideal for smaller sites such as basic websites, blogs, or customers who only require email hosting.

You get the following features with their Starter Hosting plan:

Linux-based shared hosting

One.com’s proprietary control panel

Hosting for 1 website

512 MB RAM

1 free domain registration

50 GB SSD (solid-state drive) storage

SSL certificate

1 database

Unlimited emails

PHP & FTP/SFTP access

Unlimited bandwidth

One.com’s prices are extremely low: their starter plan starts at a very reasonable $2.45 per month.

  • Professional plus hosting: Professional Plus is the next level up from One.com’s starter plan. They claim that this is the best plan for mature sites that require high-end performance. Remember that this is still shared hosting, so it isn’t suitable for very large websites.

The Professional Plus plan includes everything in the Starter plan, as well as:

Support for hosting multiple sites on one account

2 GB RAM

SSH access

200 GB SSD

One.com Customer Support and Service

One.com’s customer service needs to catch up to that of other hosting companies. It’s a mixed bag right now.

While it provides multilingual assistance, it is entirely online. There is no phone support available. You have no way of getting immediate assistance. While it provides live chat 24 hours a day, the support team can be slow. During our customer service interaction, we were unable to reach an agent for more than 30 minutes.

Emails (which are answered within 24 hours) and the knowledge base are the other support channels.

Nonetheless, the users who liked one.com on review sites were mostly inexperienced website builders. They appreciated how customer service would walk them through the process of creating their website, especially if they needed assistance in a language other than English.

Bottom Line

There wasn’t much to dislike about One.com hosting. If One.com only provided shared hosting, I would have chosen them without hesitation.
